CureSearch Meets its Mark at
the 110th Congress

September 30, 2008 marked
the end of the federal fi scal year. This year, the Children’s
Oncology Group received $1.6 million through the Defense
Appropriation bill to support pediatric cancer research.
Because of the successful funding of the Caroline Pryce
Walker Conquer Childhood Cancer Act, CureSearch is
positioned to have greater success in 2010 and beyond and
will seek to secure the full $30 million for pediatric cancer
research authorized in that bill.
CureSearch Team Leaders Take
to the Halls of Congress for
Change
In January, CureSearch held its annual Team Leader
meeting and Hill visit days in Washington, DC, an important
advocacy event, to train and re-train committed volunteer
leaders from 43 states, to push for appropriations funding
to support pediatric cancer research and the passage of the
Conquer Childhood Cancer Act.
While in Washington, this dedicated group of parents,
survivors, physicians, nurses, social workers, friends and
others collectively made more than 180 visits to offi ces of
key members of Congress, to urge them to join with their
colleagues on the Hill to pass the Conquer Childhood
