After a few local ales my memory fades a little, but I do know I had a great time – and I do recall the at-
mospheric and unhurried return
trip in our open carriage, accompa-
nied by the sounds and smells of
the steam engine up front.
As forecast, Sunday morning
dawned to grey skies and drizzle.
We wandered down to the Wharf
Station again to see about 35 ve-
hicles on display. More tea, chat
and inspection of other people’s
tyres choices followed, before our
thoughts turned to the journey
home. With levels checked and
topped up we left Towyn at pre-
cisely 12.05pm heading South into
the rain and with the single wiper
struggling to clear the windscreen,
we wished for half a spud and a tin
of Brasso to improve visibility!
It had been both an eventful and
memorable 24 hours in Towyn, and
we can’t wait for next year. Oh, and
we’ve worked out what Brasso
means; Beautiful Railway And
Splendid Series Ones.
