in September to modify the new

topcoating. The closure begins Tuesday,

Sept. 1 and continues through Friday,
Sept. 4. During the closure there is no

access between the two buildings.
Other closures or impacts from facility
work in September include the Men’s
Bar carpet replacement and maintainance
(Wednesday, Sept. 2 through Monday,
Sept. 7) and the Women’s Locker Room
Remodel (through September). The
Parking Structure project wraps up by the
first week of September.

few months is the club’s soap system. For
years MAC has been using a top-of-the-
line bulk soap system.
In April 2009, Dr. Charles Gerba,
professor of environmental microbiology
at University of Arizona, found that 25
percent of bulk soap had unsafe levels of
bacteria, and 16 percent were contami-
nated with coliform bacteria, which are
fecal-based and can cause illness. The
problem with bulk soap is that once a
contaminate gets into the soap container,
unless the soap is dumped and the
container sanitized, the bacteria continues
to grow and thrive. If a patron uses the
contaminated soap and has a cut or an
open sore, the bacteria can enter and cause
illness.
Upon reading this study, MAC’s house-
