Director’s Week
Do you fancy yourself a creative type with an
interest in the world of theatre? Then Sherman
Cymru have set up a week that will most
defi nitely be of interest. The week in question,
Wed 9-Sat 12 Sept, is Director’s Week,
during which are going to be held a number
performances from directors who have studied
under the Sherman’s wing plus a load of
workshops dealing with the Director’s Process,
The Book Club and Feedback. All of which
would be very useful to any aspiring director/
actor. And to be honest, when Sherman Cymru
are massive champions of local talent and are
always looking to push Welsh theatre forward,
there is no better company to be learning from.

wales world trade fair
The Wales World Trade Fair will be taking place
in St David’s Hall on Sat 3 Oct. It will take place
from 10am to 3:30pm. It is the largest Fair Trade
event in Wales and for anyone interested in
learning more about the Fair Trade movement
it will be an eye opening experience as to what
Fair Trade is about. There will be 50 stalls from
countries all over the world, asnd even though
Fair Trade is a serious matter there will be some
more light hearted activities, such as African-
style dancing and drumming performed by local

John Lewis Opens
So it begins, the start of Cardiff’s big retail push. John Lewis opens on Thurs 24 Sept; it will
be their fi rst store in Wales, and their second largest in the John Lewis Partnership. Four
levels of retail heaven await those shop-hungry customers out there, spread over four fl oors
with a glorious mix of fashion, gadgets, food and furniture. “Our shop will be a contemporary
showcase with hundreds of exciting products and we can’t wait to share it with shoppers
in Wales,” says Liz Mihell, managing director. John Lewis is the anchor shop for the new St
David’s Centre opening next month and marks the beginning of what will be an exciting few
months for Cardiff’s shoppers.
