“Iʼm sorry dear, I donʼt want to take you
home to your family. I want to drop you off
at the casino downtown. It suits me better
that way and I stand a much better chance
of a return fare from the casino”
Itʼs very annoying and embarrassing for a customer to enter a
cab and be told by the driver that he or she doesnʼt go to that
area. They then have to get out of the cab and run the gauntlet of
asking several cars at the back if they will take them. This is not
customer friendly, itʼs sheer bad business and costs us money
or the customersʼ trade in the long run. These are the customers
that resent taxi drivers and inevitably stop using our service and
go elsewhere. The customer has a choice please remember
that. Refusing to go to a customerʼs destination may well mean
you loose that customerʼs business for LIFE. I didnʼt see many
drivers refusing fares over the last few months of this recession.
“I wonder why?” We need to be more customer-orientated and
more business minded, we need every customer there is out
there and we need them over and over again. Repeat business
is good business and is the very reason every driver has joined
this trade. Itʼs going to be a struggle to keep those wheels turning
this year and no doubt next year too. Letʼs stop driving with the
blinkers on; our trade needs you to be friendlier towards our
customers. These customers deserve a friendly driver. Give them
a smile and they will keep coming back. This recession should
have surly taught us how vulnerable we are in the cab trade. We
need to try harder for customer satisfaction itʼs good sense, good
business and itʼs all up to you.

Driver
A minibus or a taxi
it doesnʼt really matter
even a normal car
on the road they take a batter.
Petrol or diesel
or maybe calor gas
it doesnʼt really matter
it still costs a lot of brass.
Summer time is hot
winter time is cold
But days are all the same
when you spend them on the road.
So if you are a passenger
please give a little thought
for the cabby and the driver
who through the traffi c he has fought.
To take you on your journey
wherever you have gone
he will drop you off and say thank you
and then he will carry on.
