Sir Richard Eyre:
Talking Theatre with Emma Lucia Hands
Grosvenor Museum Lecture Theatre
3.00 pm
£7.50
Shortly after Richard Eyre left the National Theatre, he embarked on a series of interviews with people
who had played a significant part in making and influencing the theatre of the second half of the 20th
century. The result is a fascinating and astonishingly candid account of how theatre is made by the
very people who make it, including Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Liam Neeson, Tom Stoppard and
Cameron Mackintosh.
Richard Eyre was Artistic Director of the National Theatre for ten years. His work since includes
several plays in the West End and on Broadway and opera at Covent Garden. His film and television
work includes Iris with Kate Winslet and the harrowing Tumbledown for the BBC.
Emma Lucia Hands has worked in theatre throughout the world. Since 2000 she has produced plays
for international touring such as Rohan McCullough’s A Testament of Youth (see page 12). She also
lectures in drama.
