Sitting next to the ocean, La Plie is already ticking boxes
as to what makes a great seafood restaurant. However the
fact that it is, well, by the sea, is the most minor of plus
points to this extremely impressive restaurant. Chef in
charge is Leon Matt Powell, a former apprentice to Ray-
mond Blanc, and La Plie is his first solo restaurant. And as
far as debuts go, he’s pretty much nailed it. An attention to
detail on the menu ensures that every dish has an elegant
intricacy to it that will keep you wanting more. And the
way it is presented certainly gives Michelangelo a run for
his money in the art stakes. An ever-changing menu (the
lunch menu daily, the dinner menu every few weeks) also
ensures that the food remains exciting whenever you visit.
If you are after a particular item it is worth ringing up to
double check its availability, the staff will be more than
helpful. Even for people who aren’t fans of seafood, this
must be tried.
