Alastair Campbell blogs on CIPFA
conference and manifesto
Our annual conference this year received high praise from our closing speaker,
Alastair Campbell. Writing in his blog at
www.alastaircampbell.org, Alastair
described CIPFA’s annual gathering as ‘a well-organised event, with a great
bunch of people running it, and a lively Q&A’.
The CIPFA manifesto
Alastair also lauded CIPFA’s Manifesto, blogging that he ‘snaffled a few copies
to post on to Labour’s election manifesto design team’.
The manifesto sets out a series of ideas about what public bodies can do to
rebuild public trust, improve governance, and deliver better public services.
It is also an invitation to CIPFA members and anyone interested in public
services to take part in the vital debates about the future of our public services.
A copy of the manifesto is on its way to all members, and is available online at
www.cipfa.org.uk.
Role of the CFO
Also launched at conference was CIPFA’s report on the Role of the Chief Financial
Officer (CFO) in Public Service Organisations. Setting out the five principles that
define the core activities and behaviours that belong to the role, the report also
clarifies the organisational arrangements essential to their successful delivery.
Essential reading for anyone working in finance in the public sector, the
report is available online at
