MULTICULTURAL MELA
This month sees the widely anticipated return of
the annual Cardiff Multicultural Mela, a fantastic
free event taking place at the Roald Dahl Plass
(Oval Basin) in Cardiff Bay. Celebrating its Asian
roots, this outdoor festival embraces a melting
pot of different cultures through music, dance,
arts, fashion and food. Artists headlining include
H Dhami and Navin Kundra, and the event will
be hosted by the BBC Asian Network’s Adil Ray
& Sonny Ji. If last year is anything to go by, the
festival promises a great day out for all. The
Multicultural Mela runs from 12-6pm on Sun 9
Aug.

1 day, 3 peaks, 14 miles
One day, three peaks, 14 miles. That’s how the Brecon Beacons
challenge (Sat 5 Sept) is described, and yes you’re right, it does
sound like a tagline for an epic movie. And that’s because, well,
this is epic. Scrambling over the beacons to see if you can be the
fastest is defi nitely an interesting way to spend the day. Don’t
think this is all about speed, there is a huge emphasis on the fact
that you can walk, sprint and jog. However for what we presume
are safety measures you must turn up in teams of at least two.
Making this more of a nice day out than a marathon through
hell. And on top of this all the proceeds go to British Heart
creative feedback
Foundation. Not bad indeed.

A lot of people seem to consider themselves to be an ‘artiste’. I know many a
person who has simply stuck tracing paper on a teapot and called it the latest
form of art. And whilst it may not be as groundbreaking as Deschamps, it will
probably still be appreciated by someone. So if you fi nd yourself splashing out
your creativity left, right and slightly off centre then the National Museum are
holding a day pretty much for you on Fri 4 Sept. Go along, get some creative
feedback and become better at what you do. Hardly wasted time at all.

ARAD GOCH
SCRIPTWRITING COMPETITION
The Arad Goch Theatre Company is celebrating its 20th birthday this year and
are currently looking for scripts to celebrate the event. Just send in a script
no matter what the length but make sure it is accessible for family viewing. It
is a great opportunity for those who enjoy writing, and possible for those who
just want to have a dabble. The successful entrant will receive training and a
rehearsed reading of the play.
