Best Kept secret
Karate Classes for free
times are more than tough. Wouldn’t it be nice to find something you can do by yourself or with
your family that won’t make your wallet collapse?
If you’ve ever been interested in martial arts, you know that classes can be
expensive—especially if you attend with your children. But we found a karate
class that meets in Newburgh that doesn’t charge monthly fees—just a one-time
$25 fee for the karate uniform. Yep, you heard correctly: free karate classes.
led by sixth-degree black belt, richard fiore, the class has
met every saturday at the Glenn Hines memorial Boys and
Girls Club at 285 liberty street, in Newburgh from 10am
to 11:30am for the past 17 years. With an emphasis on
self-defense techniques, kata and other traditional karate
principles, the class was originally developed for children
but now has many adults—most of whom stopped in to
drop off their kids, tried it and were immediately hooked.
If once a week isn’t enough for you, the class is also
held every tuesday from 7-8:30pm from september through
May at Mount saint Mary College in Newburgh. for more
