HISTORY
The history of ENGEL began in
Germany where the patented
1972
compressor system was first
Fridge/Freezer
invented. Recognizing the merit
of this unique design Sawafuji Electric
Company purchased the patent and developed it into a world-class
fridge-freezer compressor. Production of the first ENGEL commenced in
1962 and was an international success. Approaching sales of 4 million
units world-wide, ENGEL is known as ‘A LEGEND IN RELIABILITY’.
The ENGEL product line continues to expand, and our diverse customer
base is as loyal as ever. Along with the portable fridge-freezers, we also
manufacture a complete line of Marine-Grade High Performance Rugged
Ice-Boxes and Power Generators with Honda Engines. In 2009, ENGEL
celebrates its 45th year of manufacturing excellence while Sawafuji
Electric Company begins its 100th year in business.
