MONDO*DR WELCOME
VOLUME 19 ISSUE 5
JULY / AUGUST 2009
For me, the best moments in this job as mondo editor are
when I’m suddenly reminded exactly where I am in the world.
I’ll glance up during a session hammering away on the trusty
laptop and be smacked in the face by a stunning view of the
Sydney Harbour Bridge, or the shore of Lake Garda, or the
Frankfurt skyline (...just kidding on that last one - no offence,
Frankfurt!). It’s perhaps a little ironic then that this, my last
leader for mondo*dr, is being tapped out at 32,000ft, squeezed
ouk between one of the biggest humans I’ve ever seen and a little
©Z kid ominously clutching a sick bag (you’ve been there I’m sure).
ic:
•P That’s right, readers: after seven years working on your favourite
entertainment technology magazine (I’m assuming!), it’s timeLumpur
for me to move on - and what better way to take my mind offKuala
a touch of thrombosis-inducing leg cramp than a bit of wistful
Zouk, reminiscing.
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER: I’ve been to enough 25th and 30th company anniversaries to
JUSTIN GAWNE know that, for many of you old-school industry veterans out
j.gawne@mondiale.co.uk there, seven years is the mere blink of an eye, and I can’t deny
EDITOR: the time certainly seems to have flown by. mondo*dr itself is on
PETE BREWIS the verge of hitting the ripe-old-age of twenty, which I guess
p.brewis@mondiale.co.uk means I’ve been a part of its teenage years; the wild parties,
ASSISTANT EDITOR: the travelling, the brilliant people and the unusual places (or
RACHAEL ROGERSON should that be unusual people and brilliant places..?!) - it’s
r.rogerson@mondiale.co.uk been a fantastically fun ride and I thank you all for making it so.
ADVERTISING MANAGER: I’m not moving too far however – just across the office in fact,
JOEL PERRY to work on mondo*dr’s sister title, mondo*arc (the international
j.perry@mondiale.co.uk architectural lighting journal). The world of architectural design
ADVERTISING: has long been a pet interest of mine, so I’m looking forward
CHIDI ADILIH to getting properly involved. It’s not so much flying the nest,
c.adilih@mondiale.co.uk
as shuffling over to a different corner (albeit one with stylish
MARKETING /CIRCULATION: downlights and fancy cornicing), so I’ll still be on hand to help
CHARLOTTE WRIGHT out with any *dr questions and queries you may have. Drop me
subscriptions@mondiale.co.uk
a line and I’ll make sure they reach the right ears.
ACCOUNTS: So who’ll be taking over in my wake? I’m staying tight-lipped
AMANDAGILES for now; all will be revealed next issue! Suffice to say, there’ll
a.giles@mondiale.co.uk
be some new and some (very) familiar faces on hand to do
PRODUCTION: what mondo*dr does best: bring you the latest and greatest
DAVID BELL, MEL ROBINSON, entertainment technology news, reviews, venues and interviews
DANSEATON
from around the world. Stay tuned!
GROUP CHAIRMAN: I’m sure I’ll still be bumping into many of you again at various
DAMIAN WALSH events and tradeshows around the world – especially if you do
MONDIALE PUBLISHING a nice line in architectural lighting – but until then:
