The Orillia and District Construction Association’s (ODCA) Mis-
sion Statement is simple: “To assist in the construction industry by
bringing together the people and resources to foster their business
needs.”
Over the last 50 years, the ODCA has done their best to accomplish
these goals. But to grow and remain viable over five decades, the as-
sociation’s members and leaders needed to be creative, be willing to
adapt to their surroundings and constantly re-invent themselves.
Vince Paolucci, last year’s ODCA president, says the organization
has always been about networking. However, in earlier years, mem-
bership to the club was limited to those involved directly in the con-
struction industry. Today’s ODCA reaches out a little further.
“We have a new breed of members now,” says Paolucci, a 30-year
ODCA veteran. “They used to be just suppliers, contractors and sub-
traders. Now our members are (also) made up of lawyers, insurance
agents and hotel managers. There’s such a great diversity of nearly
anyone you could imagine that’s involved in some kind of way in the
construction industry.”
