Swimmers Dive Into
Short-Course Nationals

ationals. Short-course yard nationals.
The biggest masters swimming event
of the year. More than 1,500 masters swim-
mers from across the country (and some
from Canada) competing in 34 individual
events and six relay events to be the best in
the country.
This year, the nationals were held in
Clovis, Calif., May 7-10. The swim facility
featured two side-by-side Olympic swim-
ming pools. Even though the meet lasted
four days, the double course made for a
fast-paced meet and the excitement level was
high. More than 100 new national records
were set during the four days.
Three MAC masters swimmers – Ward
Mann, Eric Wan and Brent Washburne
– joined the Oregon Masters to represent the
region against 16 other region clubs and 152

in the region clubs with a score of 1,005.5,
right behind Pacifi c Northwest Aquatics’
score of 1,013 and Colorado Masters
