I know that by what I am about to say some people will assume, quite wrongly, that I am insane. Every evening we collect our cockerel from his chicken run to put him
into his own bedroom. This is basically to give the ladies a
good night’s sleep! Every evening as we walk across the
garden he chats away and he always fi nishes, quite clearly,
with ‘oh no’. Do not misunderstand, this is not because he
is going into a tiny box or anything horrid, he simply would
rather be with his girls. Now all this communication comes
from a Cockerel. Imagine what goes on in the mind of an
ape.
Anjelica Huston, working with PETA in a new video, is telling
Hollywood, No More Monkey Business and she is speaking
up for the rights of apes. She say’s:
“It’s a sad story that starts when the animals are babies, when
they are torn away from their mothers and forced to depend
upon human trainers,” says Anjelica. “Great ape mothers
are fi ercely protective of their newborns, which mean that
they must be tricked, sedated, or forcibly restrained when
their infants are pulled from their arms. This cruel practice
leaves lifelong emotional scars on both the mothers—who
go into a deep depression—and the babies.”
