and restaurants and professionals don’t only exhibit in elitist
galleries show the world your work – put it in Church halls
and restaurants. We also need to encourage more joint
working on a creative level. We can always learn from how
the person next to us sees the world.
It was with this in mind that I decided to set up Artist retreats
both here in Spain and overseas. These holidays will be
for a like minded group of people to get together and be
creative, whether it’s soaking up the atmosphere and doing
lots of photography and sketching or completing a painting
on site …it’s up to you. I won’t be setting projects, doing
demonstration or giving you specifi c projects unless you
ask me to. This is your time to be creative – I am here to
help from simple guidance to an hour’s demonstration – you
decide.
Starting in September the fi st long weekend retreat will be in
a village house in Moratalla, Inland Murcia. There is space
for 5 people of any artistic persuasion and of any level to get
together to work. We will share accommodation and meals
and there will be work space available. You can do whatever
you like…I will be available all weekend and when not
needed will be doing my own work. I aim to do these retreat
weekends every 10 – 12 weeks and will be adding new
venues as I fi nd them. The cost for a full weekend (Friday
through to Sunday) is €125 – this will cover, accommodation
– shared, food – self catering and shared, wine, beer or cava
and any tuition you require.
With the same thought in mind I have also set up a creative
art holiday in Morocco – this has the same fl exibility. We
will share a Riyadh in Marrakech within the medina. We will
have a guide and will explore the locality including the souk,
the mountains and the city – including 2 palaces and The
Islamic Art Museum. There will be no strict tuition times, you
will be encouraged to be creative in the way that is best for
you – I will be there at all times to help and give guidance on
any specifi c artistic issues. The cost of this creative holiday is
only €699 – this includes, fl ights, accommodation, full board,
visits and any tuition required – there are only 7 places on
this holiday and 3 are already booked.
