Brimming with forthright
comedy and pithy
observations, Willy Russell’s landmark play about a woman reclaiming her
identity and self-confidence reflects many of the challenges of modern life in
Ireland today. Shirley is a 42 year old Liverpool housewife, stuck in a rut. But
when her best friend wins an all expenses paid trip for two to Greece, she
begins to see the world, and herself, in a very different light.
Native Liverpuddlian Nicola Hollinshead has been publicly and critically
acclaimed for her performance as Shirley Valentine, other work includes The
Boys from the Blackstuff, City Echoes and popular TV show Brookside. Director
Ronan J Wilmot’s directing credits include Waiting for Godot & Exiles in Berlin,
The Ginger Man, touring to New York and Canada, The Cherry Orchard and
The Entertainer and his acting film & TV Credits include: The Field, In the Name
of the Father, The Snapper, The Van, On Home Ground and Bachelor’s Walk.

performance by Myriad Dance is the
company’s prèmiere performance as
resident dance company at Wexford
Opera House.
One Penny Operas is a collaborative ensemble work, devised by international
dance artist Wolfgang Hoffmann and his long time collaborator, musician
Daniel Weaver. Creating a series of choreographic and sound scores,
specific to each night’s performance, Myriad Dance present an edgy dance
work, thrilling in its unpredictability .The performance also features different
local guest artists each evening.
