Anakena
Chile
Founded in the Rapel Valley at the foothills of the Andes mountains school friends, Felipe Ibáñez and Jorge Gutiérrez,
founded Viña Anakena.
Their project was to be exceptional and nothing should be left to chance. Convinced that to achieve distinction they must offer
the highest quality, they scoured the celebrated wine-producing regions of the world, soaking up the culture and the most up-
to-date winery techniques and found out what was expected of the wines from this remote but well-endowed land.
Thus in 1999 the first vineyards were planted in Alto Cachapoal and today Viña Anakena has 165 hectares in the Cachapoal
Valley, 148 hectares in Leyda in the San Antonio Valley and 100 hectares in Cerro Ninquén in the Colchagua Valley. Leyda
and Ninquén were almost unknown as far as wine production goes but the first shipments have managed to surprise
international wine buffs with their extraordinary quality and originality.
