Gillman
New Zealand
The Gillman Vineyard was established in 1998, closely modelled on the great Bordeaux vineyards. We planted on a steep
slope with free-draining iron-rich clay in Matakana, where the conditions are ideal for cabernet franc and merlot. Our aim is to
make the finest wine in New Zealand, using Old World techniques to produce small quantities of exceptional wine.

nz500 Gillman, 2004 12x75cl £22.30 £21.80
Tasting Notes:
Gillman : A blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot & Malbec. 2004 was a winemaker's dream vintage - week
after week of dry, warm days followed by cool nights. The near-drought conditions resulted in
a very low yield per vine and we picked fruit with the highest sugar levels I have seen in 16
vintages working in Matakana. The resulting wine, full of rich, ripe fruit flavours, is already
showing well and will only continue to improve with further bottle aging.
Limited production of 1272 bottles.

wine land. They let the vines decide where our property ambitions should lie, so future purchases will always follow the
dream of the ideal land to grow the perfect grape.

Lifted floral aromas, with pear-drop apple and apricot, and a citrus undertone. The palate is mouth filling with warm, creamy hints of
almonds, pear and dried apricots. Our winemakers have really enjoyed the challenge of producing a wine that is elegantly balanced with
excellent fruit, distinct aromatic character and residual sweetness.

This wine shows distinct grapefruit and lime citrus notes with intense lifted floral aromas and hints of apricot, beeswax and honeysuckle. A
slight off-dry style of Riesling, this wine offers loads of complexity and will continue to intrigue the whole bottle through. Part of the
appeal of Riesling is its distinct aromatic capabilities, and Mud House has produced a wine that delivers on all accounts.
