BMSR have been hovering around the fringes of U.S alt-rock since they
emerged from a secret forest glen, deep in Pennsylvania, way back in
2003.
As bef_its a band whose members include vocoder wielding frontman
Tobacco, The Seven Fields of Aphelion, Power Pill Fist, Father Humming-
bird, and the oddly prosaic, D.Kyler, BMSR are a treasure trove of lush
freaktronica and giddy melody.
2007 saw the release of acclaimed treat ‘Diamond Gun’ alerting those of a
curious musical bent to their unique charm. Early fan Wayne Coyne took
them out on tour with his band The Flaming Lips, and even named a song
after them – ‘I Was Zapped by the Lucky Super Rainbow’.
‘Eating Us’ is a gently pulsing and eerily comforting set of songs which
woozily merge into each other to make a seamless, thrilling whole.
Produced by Dave Fridmann ( Flaming Lips / MGMT ) ‘Eating Us’ has a
crepuscular ‘Moon Safari’ feel and should be best enjoyed loud. In a magic
forest. Nude.

LTJ Bukem
A true musical pioneer, LTJ Bukem has been instrumental in the growth of
drum and bass since his early experiments with a sampler back in the
early 90’s. His benchmark album ‘Logical Progression’ and the creation of
his Good Looking Organisation make him a godfather of the scene.
However, in the mid-noughties he found himself too involved in running
GLO and not spending nearly enough time in the studio making tunes, his
real passion. Taking time out to re-vitalise his mojo has meant that now he
is back with GLO and loads of new artists who clearly inspire him.
And it’s these artists that Bukem is representing on FABRICLIVE 46. A bold
mix of new and burgeoning talent, this is a seventy minute sneak peek at
the future of drum & bass. It’s a simple formula – one genius, two decks
and 18 great records. This is the mix which will re-establish LTJ Bukem as
one of electronic music’s maverick selectors – not afraid to shun the big
tunes and, instead, stick to his principles and remind the record buying
world that Good Looking is still the relentless musical force it always was.
