Black Moth Super Rainbow
Eating Us
BMSR have been hovering around the fringes of U.S alt-rock since they
emerged from a secret forest glen, deep in Pennsylvania, way back in
2003.
As bef_its a band whose members include vocoder wielding frontman
Tobacco, The Seven Fields of Aphelion, Power Pill Fist, Father Humming-
bird, and the oddly prosaic, D.Kyler, BMSR are a treasure trove of lush
freaktronica and giddy melody.
2007 saw the release of acclaimed treat ‘Diamond Gun’ alerting those of a
curious musical bent to their unique charm. Early fan Wayne Coyne took
them out on tour with his band The Flaming Lips, and even named a song
after them – ‘I Was Zapped by the Lucky Super Rainbow’.
‘Eating Us’ is a gently pulsing and eerily comforting set of songs which
woozily merge into each other to make a seamless, thrilling whole.
Produced by Dave Fridmann ( Flaming Lips / MGMT ) ‘Eating Us’ has a
crepuscular ‘Moon Safari’ feel and should be best enjoyed loud. In a magic
forest. Nude.
