For all lovers of that sweet sound know as jazz-soul ‘Hidden Conversa-
tions’ will be a most welcome new arrival.
Terry Callier started recording music in the early 60’s but his relative lack of
success meant that in the early 80’s he got a responsible job in computers.
However, back in the UK the rare groove scene kept his f_lame burning and
Eddie Piller of Acid Jazz fame brought Terry over from gigs in his
downtime from the of_f_ice. It was only when word got out that his
employers The University of Chicago gave him the boot.
Since that pivotal moment he has released a number of fabulous albums,
but this latest is given a fresh electronic edge by collobaration with
Massive Attack’s Robert del Naja. The two complement each other
beautifully and this album deserves to become a well loved minor classic.

Georgiavania
Willie Isz are a new psychedelic hip-hop duo comprised of rapper Khujo
alongside producer and vocalist Jneiro Jarel. Khujo is a Godfather of the
Southern hip-hop sound, having founded Goodie Mobb alongside Cee-Lo
and featured on the last four Outkast albums. Jneiro is the producer,
rapper and singer behind the alternative aliases of Dr Who Dat ? and
Shape of Broad Minds.
The central concept at the heart of the album is an imaginary 51st state
named Georgiavania. In this near-utopian state, the tired hip-hop clichés
of swearing, sexism, homophobia, drug and gun talk have been banished
allowing a newfound, refreshing honesty and openness to prevail.
Consciously avoiding sampling in favour of live instrumentation, Willie Isz
combine Southern hip-hop styles such as Crunk and Snap music with rock
and psychedelia-infused inf_luences. And its fricking fantastic !
