News on the Scots living in the Costa Blanca
Hola Amigos,
You will all be back into the swing of things by
now. We hope you are getting plenty of dry
weather to get you’re games played. It is always a
busy time at the start of the season trying to get
you’re ties arranged and hoping you don’t draw
last years champion in the first round, great!
We have had an exciting two weeks here with
the very first Valencian Open Championships.
A very colourful opening ceremony took place at
San Miguel BC and was well attended. We all
enjoyed wine and nibbles after the formalities and
a blether with friends we have not seen for a
while. As we said last month they were held in
this area and so we were lucky not to have to
travel more than 20 minutes to the venues which
were being used. Some of our fellow bowlers
from the northern clubs booked into hotels for the
duration of the tournament, others travelled every
day they were playing which proved very tiring.
The first week the first stages of three
disciplines were carried out and the Sunday of
the second week the pairs competition was Stuart Denholm (Roslyn BC) and Alex McNeil
filtered in. For some it was an early bath in (Carron & Carronshore BC) (That’s my boy!).
