One point to be awarded to each jack
finishing within 1m of the position
indicated.
Players can practice all exercises for as
long as they need before letting the
coach know when they are ready to be
tested.
As well as the practical exercises, the
Challenge encourages the
participants to learn the rules of
bowling by asking a series of
questions — starting at the basics
on the Bronze award and the more
difficult questions for the silver and
gold.
Here are a few samples of questions
that may be asked on the Bronze
award:
Q.1 — State the number of trial ends
that are allowed before start of play in
any competition or game?
Q.2 — Describe the limitations placed
on the player to play first at the
beginning of each end with regard to
the mat?
Q.3 — Describe the privileges and
limitations on the opposing player
should the jack be improperly
delivered?
Q.4 — State which player will deliver
the jack if the previous end became
dead?
If you think you can answer these
easily, then why not try the Challenge?
Its open to any bowler of any age.You
might as well get an award for your
skills, and you never know, maybe even
progress to the Silver and Gold awards.
