ScOOP REPORTER NATALIE ROHWER DIScUSSES BOTOX,
BRAzILIANS AND BASKING IN THE SUMMER SUN By naTaLIE rohWEr

ark chocolate; red, ripe strawberries and summer fun were the menu du jour at The
Melting pot in Temecula where I made my Happy Hour pilgrimage last month in search
of the latest Scoop.
First to dish to me about his summer exploits was bartender and restaurant manager, Carter
honeycutt, whose guys-only fishing trip to Lake skinner, week-day lunch at Thornton Winery
and trip to the Las vegas strip was enough to make me flush!
M
Still, Carter had nothing on the group of five gal pals I met sitting at the bar, Love Martinis in hand.

Pho eyes she claimed were expanding faster than the national deficit.
To which Melissa—pulling out her cell phone and pretending to call the office—
replied, “Babe, when you want your appointment?!”
Though game for Botox, friend stacy Torres suggested even something as simple
as an eyebrow arch could do wonders…along with a Brazilian bikini wax. She told me
the best man for that delicate job was a woman by the name of regina felix, an esthetician
extraordinaire who could be found at reve salon & spa in Temecula. “It doesn’t hurt….much,”
she assured me. Let’s just say I’d rather slam my pinky in a door!
The conversation turned T.M.I. for some and confusion for others, like Jen pascu who was
visiting from seattle. A sweet lady in her 70’s, she really had no idea what the other ladies were
chatting about until they explained it to her—in explicit detail—to which she blurted out, “Well,
why’d you want to do that for?!”
Around the corner in a cozy nook table, another mother, Cecilia Ticsay of
Temecula, cuddled with hubby, arnel. She, too, was all about self improvement:
home-schooling her three children; training people to run marathons and raising
money for Leukemia as a member of Team-In-Training. And the payoff? “An
amazing sense of achievement, unmatched training, and lifelong friends,” she told
me. “…And the six-pack abs don’t hurt either!”
Back at the bar, I chatted up anthony Torres of Temecula and his girlfriend shannon
Melton as they perused The Melting Pot’s new appetizer menu. A color specialist and stylist,
Shannon said her summer fun will consist of relocating to the rylin ashlee salon where she
is looking forward to working alongside owner/stylist Jessica sisler.
The evening ended with a round of Tequila shots, courtesy of my new friends. “To Under
the Sun!” they toasted. “Where life is brighter!” I shouted.
And that’s The Scoop!
