Q I’m getting ready to turn 40 and I was thinking about getting hair extensions (you can’t wear long hair forever!), but
I like to change up my color a lot. Can I get extensions dyed to match the color of my base and then just “sewn in”
underneath my hair?
a
I’m always a little hesitant about sewing extensions into the hair because they put a lot of stress on the hair follicles that can result
in unnecessary hair loss. One alternative I recommend to my celebrity clients is a system developed by california-based company
Mark Barrington concepts Inc. that utilizes invisible tape to hold the extensions in place. custom-created to match your hair color,
the extensions attach to your hair near the root and are easily removed with a citrus-based solution that lifts them out. What’s great
about this system is that you can completely remove the extensions to wash your hair as opposed to sew-in extensions that tend to
tangle when wet and put additional stress on your hair and scalp when combing them out.
