What do people pray for? Most pray for family
and friends who have needs; others just want to
thank God for something; others are looking for

guidance; others for healing. Worldwide needs

such as global poverty, wars and disasters are

other things for which people feel moved to pray.
So what is it about prayer that helps? 30% of
the people who said they pray said that they felt
strengthened as a result; 22% said that they felt
close to God; and 21% felt reassured and safe.
It also helps when you know that somebody else
is praying for you, especially at times when you
find it hard to pray yourself.
“At New Malden Baptist Church we believe
that prayer can make a difference in every
circumstance and season of life” says Johnny
Pozzo, the church’s pastor.
“If people would value prayer for anything – for
themselves, for their family, or perhaps for
matters of local or national importance, we would
like to pray with them” he says. “It may be
