Where do I start looking for assignment material?

Decided on your essay topic, but not sure where to begin looking for the right
books and articles? Try http://www.deakin.edu.au/library

To find books, use keywords and the Quick Search option to locate material for
your essay topic. Once you have a list of books, you can refine your search in a
number of ways including, Format, Location (Campus) Date Published, and
Subject Tags.

Quick Search can be found on the Library Homepage

To find journal articles, we recommend beginning with the Subject Guides, which
have been created by specialist Liaison Librarians to gather all the most useful
resources to assist your study in a subject area.

Most helpful in the Subject Guides is the Articles via Databases tab where the
most relevant databases to use for your topic are listed. You can search multiple
databases and locate full text articles from academic journals to print off at your
convenience.

Check out the other tabs across the pages of the guide to
see other useful resources.

The Subject Guides link can be found on the Library Homepage, under the Help
banner or direct at http://deakin.libguides.com/

Maintaining your Employability
An off campus student, by definition, has their finger in many pies. Presumably, studying from
home allows you to continue with your everyday life, as an employee, parent, volunteer, or
otherwise. We find out quickly, however, that maintaining all of these responsibilities, with an
added load of readings, essays and due dates, is a difficult one at best.
Therefore, implementing an active management approach is imperative to your success. None
of us can afford to suffer from burnout or illness from burning the candle at both ends. So,
taking a page from the book of a business manager, objectively review the responsibilities in your
life to assess where you’re at and where you want to be.
If you are feeling stressed, isolated, unmotivated or disorganised, a review of your priorities may
be the catalyst you need to regain control. As an effective manager, review what is working well
and what is not. Be honest. For example, are you commuting long hours each day, feeling
overwhelmed by your studies, not getting enough hours at your job? Recognising what needs to
be improved and developing goals and strategies to create a new direction is an effective way to
run a business and an even better way to manage yourself.
