When he’s not helping keep skies over America safe for public

air travel, Larry Ingram of Yuba City, California, is thinking
about fly fishing. Ingram flies airplanes for the Federal Aviation
Administration, checking ground and satellite navigation aids—
airport landing as well as lighting and radar systems. We caught
him in this picture on Super Bowl Sunday with a nice steelhead
from northern California’s Mad River. Larry was on the river
with his pals from the E. C. Powell Fly Fishers, who once a
year by ritual travel to the coast. The Yuba City Gang rents
cabins and the boys enjoy a cocktail or two while Emeril protégé
Mike McFarlane force feeds them a stream of much-needed
nourishment: oysters, grilled tri-tip beef steaks, pork tenderloin,
fresh-boiled crab. Commented Ingram: “We eat like kings.”
