T h e S u b m i s s i o n i n t e r n s w o u l d
l i k e y o u t o k n o w t h e f o l l o w i n g :
1) we've had a hoot of a time working on previous
issues and this one, (2) some of us are graduating,
scared shitless, but ready to take on the economically
challenged world, and (3) we appreciate the
contributions of the talented and artistic Purchase
community–y'all are so twisted in the head but
somehow it works. Some of us have been on board for
a year or more–others hopped on the boat this
past semester. Regardless, the skills we have
sharpened through our college careers and our
involvement with The Submission will continue t
o evolve us. We take comfort in the fact that people
need art and entertainment to enhance their lives.
Now for a metaphor (because we all live in a world of
metaphors): with The Submission, we aim to of_fer
something like a shell for the goo of potential
material produced by Purchase College, protecting
and of_fering the ability for it to hatch through
publication. Perhaps we are geniuses. Perhaps we
are not. But as a team, we've possessed some
mastery of alchemy which has allowed us to turn
the seemingly ambiguous goo of potential life (of
submitted material) into something like an egg.
Thanks to the combined ef_forts of a great crew, not
only did we get this chicken to lay an egg, we've
laid the golden egg: the Gala. And hopefully that
event will repeat itself annually for years to come.
In closing, we hope you open the following pages as
you continue to open your heart and mind. The
Submission will be back again next year, like that
friend you lose touch with over the summer and then
reunite with. Basically, what we're saying is, we want
you in us. Keep submitting! Continue to express
yourselves publicly and privately. On canvas, film,
pages, and of course--the internet.
