summer for the UK, we’re focussing on summer

drinking which, for me, means wines that are not
too high in alcohol, and have a fresh, crisp character.
Such wines as Beaujolais and Loire Valley reds from
France, or Valpolicella from Italy can be just as refreshing
as white wines. Coming mostly from more northerly wine
regions, these wines tend to be naturally modest in
terms of alcohol (at around 12 per cent alcohol by
volume or so) and low in tannins, meaning they
