Nonprofi t group gives thanks
Two awards to recognize “contributions of time, treasures and talents”
to the community were given by the Chandler Non-Profi t Coalition
recently in a ceremony held at diSciacca in downtown Chandler.
Dorothy Woods Ruoff received the Outstanding Volunteer honor for
her work with the Chandler Education Foundation; securing funding
and designation on the National Register of Historic Places for Chandler
High School’s Old Main and the Silk Stocking District; researching and
promoting a historic downtown plaque project; and as a board member
of the Downtown Chandler Community Partnership, to name a few.
The Sunbird Kare Bears, a group of volunteers who help neighbors
in the Sunbird development, was given the Community Award of
Excellence. Members of the organization, formed 16 years ago, visits the
chronically ill or recently hospitalized, holds fundraisers and donates to

charities and more.
