Chandler Fire Chief Jeff Clark accepted a donation of safety equipment valued at $15,000 from Firehouse Subs. The
donation includes a self-contained breathing apparatus unit, three air masks and a fi t testing device to check the seal on
masks. Firehouse Subs was founded by fi refi ghters and has a location at Ray Road and the Price Freeway.
Sister Joan Marie Madden, SC, of Seton Catholic Preparatory High School will be honored with a special mass and
reception Sat., May 30 at 8 a.m. Madden has served the school for more than 41 years. Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Chapel is

Curves of Chandler’s food drive brought in nearly 3 tons of nonperishable food to benefi t Matthew’s Crossing food bank
in Chandler. This was Curves International’s 11th Annual Food Drive and Curves of Chandler’s seventh time to participate.
Curves of Chandler waived service fees for new members in exchange for a bag of groceries, which netted 2,814 pounds for

Five Star Publications of Chandler claimed two top prizes at the annual Arizona Book Awards (ABPA) in Phoenix, and
two additional books received recognition as contest fi nalists. Five Star Publications, owned by Linda Radke, was awarded
Glyph Awards in the Business/Career category for “Productivity Plus” by Jim Temme and “Potluck Survival Guide” by
Cherie Kimmons won in the Cookbook category. Finalists in the Juvenile/Young Adult-Nonfi ction category were “When Life
Throws You a Curve” by Elizabeth Golden, and “Misadventures of a Roving Cartoonist” by Tom Gill and Tim Lasiuta in the
