Making A Splash
“Het Landhuis” is a dream home in the
Netherlands which provides the lucky owner
with fountains, spas, swimming pools and
saunas, plus every automated facility anyone
could dream of. It won Dutch company
Censys Residential Control the ‘Best
Integrated Home over £250,000’ category at
the CEDIA Awards 2009.
Translated as ‘the country house,’ with its thatched roof and strictly
non-urban style, massive interior space has been utilised with a
variety of smart AV equipment. Arriving visitors’ eyes are drawn
towards the centre of attraction in front of the house, a clever
multi-fountain with programmed ‘dancing’ water variations.
Rooms on the ground floor include office space where the
owner is able to work from home. Upstairs, the bedrooms and
guestrooms all have en-suite facilities. The large basement area
is reserved for relaxation with a spa, swimming pool, whirlpool,
steam bath, sauna, gym and massage
facilities, home theatre and a wine cellar.
Water-based amenities also include an
outdoor pool.
Virtually all hardware can be operated
by touch panels with a simple user-friendly
interface. This is very important to the owner
who wanted intuitive control which would
not be daunting to guests.
There are 30 rooms and most have
control features. There is a total of 18 wall-
mounted controllers and four wireless units
used together with 75 keypads. Lighting is
equally well served with 224 zones. AV is
distributed to ten zones to plasma and LCD
screens. Three zones are provided with
surround sound and the multiroom audio
comprises 16 sources and 24 zones (four
of them outdoors). All can all be adjusted
individually. >>
