NHBA honours members at Annual Awards of Excellence Gala

On April 3, 2009, the Niagara Home Builders’ Associa-
tion (NHBA) honoured its own with a spectacular event at
the John Michael’s Banquet and Conference Centre in
Thorold, just outside of St. Catharines. This 30-category pro-
gram recognizes innovation, creativity, and excellence in the
residential construction industry in Niagara.
The NHBA’s 2009 Award of Excellence Gala was an el-
egant affair that included a 60 foot New York Style Antipasto
Bar, a scrumptious prime rib dinner, and a post wine recep-
tion with the melodic jazz band, The Red Tambourines pro-

viding perfect tunes for the post party. Even though the
weather was not cooperative, not even the cold, driving rain
on this early April evening managed to put a damper the fes-
tivities.
Well-put together and finely executed, the awards portion
ran as smoothly as the rest of the evening. NHBA president
David McGilvray of Pym and Cooper Custom Homes hosted
the event and Debi Wiebe, Director of Community Relations
and Promotions for the Standard and Sun Media Publishing
Group, performed her MC duties wonderfully. Frank Gian-
none, president of the Ontario Home Builders’ Association
(OHBA) presented the prestigious Project of the Year Award
to Silvergate Homes for Victory Garden in Fonthill. Fred Losani, Losani Homes Homes by Hendriks Frank Giannone and Silvergate Homes
Great Gulf Homes came away with seven awards, includ-
ing Best Overall New Home Design for 1-storey 1,200-1,800
