Single Soldiers Activity Weekend
In the coming season, the most popular international touring car series is
going to hold eleven races in six European countries. The second race of
the season will be held at Hockenheim, one of the world’s finest and
fastest race tracks, on 13 Apr 08. Not only are the touring cars racing but
also supported by Formula 3 Euro Series, ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup,
Porsche Carrera Cup, and SEAT Supercopa. Currently seven British
drivers compete in the race series, so it will be an opportunity not to miss.
Not only will you have the chance to watch a full day’s high octane
motor racing in the Grandstands, with a great seat to watch the action
from, but also there will be other events taking place on the day. This includes hot laps of Hockenheim in a Porsche 911, Audi Hot
air balloon trips, Go Karting races and a chance to see some of the Playboy Girls in the pit lane.
The cost of this event is free to single soldiers of 35 Engr Regt, Transport and entry with a Grandstand ticket seat will also be
provided. Transport will leave on Sunday 13 Apr 08 in the morning and return in the evening. So get out and do something dif-
ferent, by making the most of your time in Germany. You will not be disappointed. This is not your usual Sunday, so go on get
out and make the most of your posting at 35 Engr Regt. Spaces are limited so book early to

Calling Terry Evans
Barry Ravey is trying to trace Terry Evans, originally from Ipswich, and at the time this
photo was taken (Sept 1964) he was engaged to a girl called Isabelle. Also Sgt Bob Beer, an
Army FA referee and last known to be living in the Devon or Dorset area. Anyone who can

Exercise Weymouth Welshman XIV
The thirteenth reunion of Ex Weymouth Welshman is being arranged for 02 – 05 Apr 09
(Grand National weekend) in Weymouth. All Weymouth Welshmen, past and present mem-

Award
Capt Andy Plackett receives the 2008 Engineer and
Logistics Staff Corps Prize from the Commanding Officer
Col Keith White, at the Staff Corps Annual Dinner. Capt
Plackett won the award for his outstanding work in Iraq,
and flew back from Brunei to accept it.
Mareth Troop Reunion
Along with approximately fifty other 15 year olds,
Doug Hamilton-Cox joined Mareth Troop, 'C' Squadron
at Old Park Barracks, Dover on 29th April 1959. He is
currently organising a 50 year reunion to be held at
Coventry on the weekend of 17th and 18th April 2009.
He would be delighted to hear from any Mareth Troop
members or indeed any ex-Sappers that remember
