Around 50 local cyclists braved the notorious
Saturday morning traffic jams in Sevenoaks on April 25
to publicise their campaign to make the town an easier
place to leave the car at home and switch to pedal power.
Local MP Michael Fallon turned up to announce his
support. “A lot of my constituents complain about the
speed of traffic, and we’ve got to look at this aspect.
It means more cycle routes, more cycle racks and the
various councils involved looking at this afresh to see
what can be done to make Sevenoaks a more
cycle-friendly place.” Town mayor Pam Walshe
was also present to launch the ride into the
High Street from Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve
on Bradbourne Road. “I very much want
to promote cycling in Sevenoaks. There is a
perception that it’s a difficult place to cycle in
with busy roads, but there are safe routes. I hope Pedal power: Around 50 local cyclists
