Collections’ summer bags put a spring in your step
While the Prime Minister is encouraging the nation to spend its way out of the recession, the fashion-conscious women of the North East are doing their bit for
the cause by embracing the trend for gorgeous handbags in every mood-enhancing colour of the rainbow. Sara Strangeway, buyer at the MetroCentre’s new
designer accessories boutique Collections, has seen a noticeable lift in sales of brightly coloured bags which have put traditional black and brown second to
vibrant purple, lemon and lime, green, red and fuchsia. “The colours now are so lush and such fun, they really give you a lift. They’re a fantastic antidote to some
pretty dull news out there just now.”
Collections is home to stunning bags from designer names like , Diesel, Coccinelle, Guess, Francesco Biasia, and Radley, all of them loved by fashionistas the
world over. Beautiful jewellery from Truth Charms, Pilgrim and designer watches also features in an enviable collection you would be hard pressed to find
anywhere else under one roof, while the new season also features fabulous Radley ‘Select’ bags exclusive to Collections in the North East.
THE METROCENTRE’S LATEST FASHION ACCESSORY STORE
Within the stunning designer range at the store, beautiful slouch shapes, totes, barrels, grabs and clutches cater for every occasion, while designer features
like padlocks, plaited and woven handles, chunky clasps, chain shoulder straps, embroidery and feature stitching add a funky touch to the many styles. Classic
distressed tan and smart black leather also make their mark, particularly in the elegant ranges from Radley, Diesel and Coccinelle. Sara says: “We created the

store to be inviting and friendly, and we want our customers to feel happy to take their time to try on our bags and accessories in comfort and in a relaxed
atmosphere. “My tip for the season is to have the confidence to be bold with what you wear and to change your outfit completely with your choice of
accessories. Mixing prints, colours and metals all works. The old rules are gone; your accessories style is your signature.”
