Team Taxi
halfway
there
phew!
Two months ago, three friends set
themselves the challenge of running four
marathons between them, in support of
taxi charities around the country.
“Team Taxi” have now reached the
halfway point of their ordeal, with two of
the Team having completed the Paris
Marathon on 5th April. Pauline Newton
and Maurice Reid competed with over
30,000 fellow runners to finish the 26
mile course, which took in all of the sights
of the French capital.
Maurice will now accompany Greg
Hilliard on 31st of May to run the
Edinburgh Marathon. A nervous Greg
commented, “I suppose the pressure’s on
me now - I’m the only one who hasn’t run
a marathon yet!”
Greg’s been training hard over the past
weeks and months, and has competed
in several local races over shorter
distances, as he builds up his fitness.
The Team have already raised over
£500 between them but are still looking
for as much support as they can get
for the three taxi charities they have
chosen. Every penny of sponsorship
money goes directly to the charities, each
operated by members of the taxi trade.
These charities provide outings and
support for underprivileged and Special
Needs children all over the UK. They
are: The London Taxi Drivers’ Fund for
Underprivileged Children, The Liverpool
Taxi Drivers’ Children in Care Outing
Fund and The Edinburgh Taxi Trade
Children’s Outing.
More details on the three charities Team
Taxi are supporting can be found on
Maurice’s company website: www.aquila-
electronics.co.uk, along with details of
the Team’s progress to date! Please visit
the site to find out more or to download
a sponsorship form and help Team Taxi
raise money for these exceptionally
worthy causes!
Well done Pauline and Maurice on your
excellent performances in the Paris
Marathon! We wish Greg and Maurice
good luck for the next leg in Edinburgh at
the end of May!
