Beforethere-introductionofseaeaglestook
place,thelastnestingpairinBritainweretobe
foundinShetlandin1910.Themalediedthatyear,
thefemaleshotin1918.Shewasthelastnative
seaeagleinallBritainforover40years.
numberoflocations,suchastheIsleof
Mull.Detailscanbeobtainedfromthe
varioustouristofficesinearlysummer.
Unfortunately,despitethehelpof
sympatheticlocalpeople,thereisstilla
needfornestsecurity.Fourclutchesof
eggshavebeentakenbyeggcollectorsin
recentyears.Amongstthe25orsodead
birdsthathavebeenfound,atleastsixhad
beenpoisonedandothershavebeenshot.
Itisalsolikelythatafewbirdshavedied,
forwhateverreason,andmayhavejust
