ET REGISTRATION: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
1. Make sure you are given a copy of the Embryo Registration form at time of flushing. Holstein UK should also have received a
copy from the ET company. You will need to have the ET1 number when you register the calf.
2. All Donor dams need to have a DNA test; if the dam has not already been tested we will send you out a DNA kit, which must
be done as soon as possible at the time of flushing. It is the responsibility of the member to ensure that all ET donor dams
are DNA tested.
3. When an ET calf is registered, you will be asked for the ET1 number and the recipient dam’s ear tag number. Please be aware
that if the donor dam has died and has not been DNA tested then the calf will not be eligible for registration.
4. If there are two sires on the ET1 form then all calves from this flushing will also have to be DNA tested.
5. If you are applying for a passport only for an ET calf, you must tell us that the calf is ET and give us the ear tag number for
the recipient dam and the donor dam.
6. ET2 Amendment Forms, which need to be completed and sent to Holstein UK. Members must complete an ET2 form when
the embryo has been thawed and implanted or sold or destroyed or the recipient dam transferred to a new owner or the
embryo is exported.
7. If members are sharing embryo’s we must have this agreement in writing, signed by all parties and sent to Holstein UK.
Imported Embryo
We require a certificate of embryo identification, DNA profile for the donor dam together with her three generation pedigree.
This information should be sent to Holstein UK by the importer of the embryos.
