Spring Carnival – Food and fun for the whole family are offered at Santan Elementary’s Spring
Carnival, taking place from 5 to 8 p.m. Fri., April 17. Info has been sent home with all students and is also
available in the Santan school offi ce. Contact your child’s teacher with any questions.

Yearbooks – Payne’s 2008-09 yearbook is still on sale for $35. See your Language Arts teacher for
an order form.
Tutor time – Payne offers before- and after-school tutoring in the Media Center, from 8 to 9 a.m.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Parent pickup is
required for after-school tutoring.

Spring Fling – Weinberg invites old alumni, young alumni and past students and teachers of Weinberg

to share their stories and experiences at Weinberg’s Spring Fling Anniversary Party on April 24, celebrating
25 years of education. The event features music, entertainment, games and vendor displays. Weinberg
also welcomes vendor displays for the nominal charge of $50. For more info, call 480-812-7500.
Music notes – Weinberg sixth-graders recently attended a concert presented by the Phoenix Youth
Symphony. The students had been studying the fi ve pieces performed. Funding for the performance was
provided by the William L. and Ruth T. Pendleton Memorial Fund; Weinberg general music teacher Andrea
Huelsenbeck was awarded a Target Fieldtrip Grant to cover the cost of bussing the students to the concert.

Going green – Santan is going greener with the initiation of the Student Council recycling project.
Students are asked to recycle paper, cans and plastic bottles only in the designated BLUE trash cans.
