“Come See Who We Are”
Friday, June 27 – Sunday, June 29

It is my pleasure to welcome all visitors to the Seventh
Annual African-American Heritage
Festival.
During the three-day festival that begins Friday, June
27
th
and runs through Sunday, June 29
th

at M&T Bank stadium in Baltimore, all of the region
and nation will experience the richness of African-
American history, culture and heritage.

While I am proud to celebrate African contributions
to the history and culture of America, I am also proud
to remind Marylanders that this is a festival open to
all people to experience and enjoy. In its seventh year
, the African-American
Heritage Festival has become one of the largest premier
events in the country. The Festival has drawn 500,000
attendees each of
the first six years and expects more in 2008 with an
expanded site. Visitors will be enriched by African
American history with har-
monious activities that enhance cultures within the African
Diaspora. Additionally guests will experience interactive
exhibitions,
performing arts and seminars to expand knowledge
in areas such as financial empowerment, home ownership,
health, and career
development.
Each day will be filled with excitement, fun and family
friendly activities. National entertainment headliners
include:
Common, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Chuck
Brown, Fertile Ground, Kindred, and Bilal.
More than 50 community and non-profit or
ganizations from across the region are expected to participate
in the festival,
including representatives of the diverse neighborhoods
of Baltimore Region.
I want to offer a special thanks to the dedicated
volunteers who continue to support the AAHF Foundation,
the generosity of
our various sponsors, and the City of Baltimore. The
festival would not be possible without their unconditional
and unwavering sup-
port.
