P
eople say winter is the season to grab a mate
and cuddle up for the long, cold days ahead.
But there is nothing like having someone to
share the hot steamy days of summer with
either––and they don’t necessarily have to be
the love of your life. If they are, or turn out to be, that’s
cool. But if not, that’s cool, too. The days of summer
come and go too fast to spend time looking for love. A
playmate will do for now. You just need someone with
whom you can step outside of the land of familiar and
into the magical world of summertime, where anytime
is the right time for anything––romance, late night ren-
dezvous, long walks in the park (after dark), endless
conversations about nothing in particular. A summer
fling.
Now, some have their reservations about hooking up
with someone just for the season. But a fling is every
bit of what you make it. And depending on your defini-
tion of a fling, it can be anything from running off and
having sex with a stranger on the beach to hooking up
for ice cream and soda pop when the sun goes down.
It’s really about the memories that only the summer can
capture. Taking advantage of the sense of freedom sum-
mer yields. Holding no punches. Releasing your inhibi-
tions.
Trends sat down with sex and relationship expert
LaDawn Black to get her take on the whole summer
fling thing and here’s what she had to say.
:Summer flings. In your opinion, are they a
good idea or not?
LaDawn Black: Yes. Yes. Yes. If you know that it is a
fling, have fun and build a great summer memory. As
long as the sex is safe and both parties are aware there
is little room for hurt.

: What are some advantages of having a sum-
mer fling?
LB: You get to try on a lover different from your usual

type. There can be a fun sexy locale involved and lets
not forget the warm nights and great weather during
the day that fuels all sorts of physical activity.
:What do you say to those in a relationship?
How is a summer fling possible for them?
LB: Turn your main man or girl into your summer
with Ladawn Black
fling. Try different locations for sex. Get all romantic
while on vacation. Breathe new life in old love by stat-
ing how you feel and being extra attentive. You really
can have a fling with your long-term lover.
