You put them in the Cc box if you want them all to know who else has a
copy of this message to Aunty Maud. However, if there is no valid
reason for them to know this, then you should put them in the Bcc box,
which stands for Blind Carbon Copy - ie, no one else will know who has
received your message to Aunty Maud about your impending visit asking
her to change her will!
So, you address your message to Aunty Maud. You put your niece in
the Cc box, as well as Cousin Freda who will drive you there. You put
Uncle Bill, Aunty Dorothy, and your sister Emma in the Bcc box. As a
result -
•
Aunty Maud will receive a message showing that niece and Freda
have also received it
•
Niece and Freda will receive messages showing that they and Aunty
Maud have received it
•
Bill, Dorothy and Emma will each receive a message as if they are the
only recipients - they will not know that niece and Freda have received
copies, nor will they know that the other Bcc members have received a
copy.
