My spam filter puts spam mail in the Spam mailbox so that I can check
that it really is spam - occasionally it gets it wrong, though a check today
reveals that it gets 97.6% correct. If there is a good message in that
box, then I can drag it back to the inbox or elsewhere, or click on a menu
which says Move to ...... Eventually, I have to move all the spam to the
trash and then empty the trash - check how your spam filter works. I
prefer to check the spam occasionally in case there is a mistake, but
some people allow their ISP to delete what it thinks is spam - that way,
you may miss an occasional ʻgoodʼ message.
I am intrigued by the names some of the spammers use - Coy Vickers,
Dionisio Lamphere, Edgardo, Lorie, Jamel, Emylice, Kennedy Duru, Egil
Lipps, Ik Mayfield, Ivy Dye, Letha Pratt - and even Jesus, are some
recent ones! Apart from the latter, I wonder if any of you know any of the
others? There are some sample spam messages in the next section
entitled Warnings.
The Sent or Delivered mailbox is also useful to remind you what you
have said to others. Sometimes, Aunt Maud is a bit slack and after a
delay of a week or so will send a message which says No! If I donʼt
have a box named Aunt Maud where I keep all copies of what I send to
her and what she sends to me, then I have to go to the Sent mailbox to
see what she is refusing!
Reply & Forward
If you wish to reply to a message, then you click on the word Reply at
the top of the screen and the program will automatically open up a new
message with the senderʼs address already in place, and possibly a
copy of the subject inserted as the sender had it in his or her message.
