Curtis Windover
Curtis is a young man born and raised in Medicine Hat. But, due to his "no fear" attitude and drive to do more
he has already accomplished things in his 15 years of life that many of us won't ever get to step out and try.
From volunteering at the local food bank and Santa Claus Fund to building homes for impoverished families
in Ensenada, Mexico and a school for kids in a tiny village in Nigeria, Africa. Curtis has been stepping out
into the world for the past few years and continues to push forward into new endeavors every opportunity
he gets. In the months leading up to Crescent Heights High School theatre production this past February,
Curtis was prepping, fundraising and rehearsing every day after school to give his best as the lead in the
play. On top of being a great performer, Curtis knows how to raise money for a good cause and his efforts
will go towards the theatre students' trip to New York this April to take some theatre workshops, as well as
watch a few Broadway productions. At 15-years-old, Curtis has many
years ahead of him and plans to continue serving in the community, Volunteer Organizations
traveling the world and pursuing his passions in music, theatre and • Medicine Hat Skateboard Association
skateboarding.
Mackenzie Koopmans
My name is Mackenzie Koopmans and I have lived in Medicine Hat for four years now. Medicine Hat is my 10th
'home.' I have lived in two countries, two provinces, two states, and eight cities. When I was younger I was a
super shy girl so making friends was not that easy. But now I love meeting new people and it's easy for me to
get along with them. That is definitely a perk to all of that moving. I love to babysit, which says that I love kids
too. I want to be a nurse in the pediatric ward after college/university, and if that doesn't work out I want to
have a job where I can work with kids. I figure-skated for eight years but this year I had to choose between it
and basketball. After a lot of thinking I chose basketball. I play for the Hat High JV team and we practise or play
every day of the week except Sundays. Needless to say it occupies a lot of my
time. I have a twin sister, an older sister, and one younger sister. I also live with
my mom and dad, our dog as well as seven lovebirds. I love going to 'the lake'
