Coming to the Robert Lehman Art Center this spring: Manuel Alvarez Bravo in Context
A comprehensive exhibition of the photography of Manuel Alvarez Bravo (1902-2002) is being mounted to complement Brooks’s own
collection of Alvarez Bravo’s work. The renowned Mexican photographer captured a dreamlike quality in his work, and he was associ-
ated with the Surrealists. His influences include the politics, folk art, and ancient cultures of Mexico. The opening reception is April 3,
6:30-8:00 p.m. The curator, Ben Charland, will speak on Thursday, April 2, at 7:00 p.m. in the Science Forum.
