jamie Bamber is best known for playing Apollo in the
recently wrapped Battlestar Galactica. His next role is
as DS Matt Devlin in Law & Order: London.
sO hOw dOEs thE hErO Of spACE OpErA LIkE
wOrkING ON A prOCEdurAL shOw? They are
each great shows, and while I loved the raw drama and
sweeping arcs of Battlestar, I am loving the subtler
challenges of playing a good detective whose personal
life is entirely off-screen.
spEAkING Of pErsONAL LIfE, whAt’s bEEN yOur
ExpErIENCE wIth rAIsING A yOuNG fAMILy
IN hOLLywOOd? The problem with Hollywood and
marriage is that nothing is permanent in the movies. An
actor’s life means playing many roles, pleasing different
tastes, and it is therefore not surprising that personal
lives follow that pattern and change constantly. My wife,
Kerry, and I live in Hollywood but come from London.
We enjoy the excitement but feel like observers rather
than participants. Our kids, our family are our ongoing
reality and will not change. I am confident our love will
not change.
whAt CAN wE sEE yOu IN NExt? The final ten
episodes ever of Battlestar Galactica: my finest
experience as an actor. I may not ever watch these
episodes—the memory of making them was enough.
