When Joshua met Christiane, a fellow Canadian,
at a friend’s party in New York City, “I spotted her
across the room talking to somebody I knew, so I
took a chance and introduced myself; we ended up
leaving the party together and went out dancing
until 3 a.m. I would certainly call that something-at-
first-sight.” Fast-forward to 2002, when Christiane’s
DwellStudio was growing fast and needed a business
and financial expert. Because Joshua’s latest project
had just fallen through, they took a chance on the
company—and each other.
According to Joshua, the benefits of working
together include increased quality time with their
kids, and positively impacting the lives of their dozens
of staff, “who are depending on me and Christiane
to keep driving this business.” He finds that “seeing
each other perform in a business setting gives you
an entirely new appreciation for your spouse and
how talented she is. But this wouldn’t work if we
didn’t bring completely different skills to the table,
business and creative.” Their dedication has paid off;
in 2007, DwellStudio unveiled bed, bath, and baby
collections in Target stores nationwide. To peruse
